Louvre Abu Dhabi
Located on the shores of the Arabian Gulf, Louvre Abu Dhabi embodies a spirit of openness and dialogue between cultures. It is a truly universal museum that focuses on stories of human creativity. Its exceptional treasures span history and geography, through twelve inspiring chapters. They range from a 5,000-year-old Bactrian Princes statuette, works by Gauguin, Manet, and Mondrian to expressive abstract paintings from contemporary master Cy Twombly.
Louvre Abu Dhabi’s Children’s Museum is a specially designed area for young visitors – a bridge to engaging with the wider museum and collection. It inspires guests aged 6 to 12 with family-friendly displays and interactive programming.
At Louvre Abu Dhabi, light, shadow and water move in harmony in a very special atmosphere conceived by world-renowned architect Jean Nouvel. The buildings are connected by welcoming waterfront promenades underneath the iconic dome, which filters the sunshine creating a mesmerising “Rain of Light” pattern, reminiscent of palm trees in the desert oases.
Louvre Abu Dhabi offers a rich programme of special exhibitions, guided tours and workshops for children and adults to discover more about the museum’s architecture and collections.
