Admire the Glory of Art Souq
Art souq presents painting, photography, digital prints and sculptures across the six hall art gallery in Al Bateen. This Event was started in Ramadan and now it is close to ending in end September. The Souq offers an opportunity for visitors to begin the adventure of collecting art or expand their existing collection.
The artworks span a variety of styles, according to curator Susanna Petro. “Anyone can find their taste here," said Mrs. Petro. “You can find figurative art, ones that are close to illustration, oil paintings, digital art printed on canvas and mixed media." She also added that many of the Artwork are already sold.
Viewers can enjoy a wide variety of styles, techniques, and mediums that bond the traditional and contemporary. Greek artist Yiannis Roussakis reveals authentic and sometimes surprising ingredients of Emirati life through his photography and design work, exploring the connection of Emirati people with their land, culture, and animals.
A colorful mix media painting by well-known Emirati Artist ‘Najat Makki’, is for sale for Dhs12,000. While some of the images are abstract, others display UAE imagery, such as the Dhs3,500 large print by photographer Yiannis Roussakis featuring a caravan of camels striding past a mosque. Antiques from the Etihad Antiques Gallery are also for sale at Art Souq.
An artist from France Karine Roche has done something magical by brushwork that combines the vibrant pace of city with passionate energy of natural forms. The event also showcases the works of artists such as Khaled Al Najjad, whose Arab and Cuban heritage marks the departure point for his stark photorealistic visions, and Kim Robertson, whose exploration of the Japanese aesthetic of imperfection creates an intimate, honest, and austere body of work.
