Mobile phone with cutting edge low-radiation technology launched for first time in the UAE
Magnus Telecom, a technology company headquartered in Germany and having its registered office in UK, announced today the launch of the Magnus range of mobile phones in the UAE, the first ever mobile phone to be equipped with low-radiation technology and cutting edge ‘healthy’ call handling features.
Eight models of the Magnus mobile range were unveiled today at a press conference held at Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai, setting a new benchmark in mobile telephony with a strong sense of social responsibility. The company announced its commitment to launch mobile phones with a series of “healthy features” including thumb recognition and other biometric features, which enable heart rate monitoring.
“Growing environmental and health awareness among mobile phone consumers, coupled with the ready availability of a huge variety of products, have set new trends in consumer demand, and customers in the GCC & MENA region are increasingly opting for value-added products,” said Jabir Mohammed, Regional Head, Magnus Telecom. “As a socially responsible organization driven by research, we at Magnus Telecom believe in developing products that not only meet customers’ technological requirements but also address the health risks associated with technology.”
“Magnus Telecom has a strong focus on research and innovation and we strongly believe that our vision of becoming a leader in mobile communication can be achieved only through technological innovation centered on healthy communication. Research has indicated that radiation from mobile phones is highest during “dialing or receiving” calls and the key to reducing the risk is by generating awareness about healthy practices among users. Our new Magnus mobiles are equipped with low-radiation technology and offer a variety of ‘healthy’ calling features that enable users to reduce exposure to harmful microwaves,” he added.
“There is increasing demand for more health-related safety features in mobile phones, amid growing concerns about exposure to radiation,” said Naushad Abdulla of Telelink Technologies UAE, Regional Partner of Magnus Telecom. “As the first of its kind product, the new range of ‘caring’ phones from Magnus will cater to the health conscious customer and promote the safe use of technology in a cost effective manner.”
Magnus Telecom’s new mobile brand is expected to target the growing demand for mobile phones in the MENA region with an initial focus on the UAE. Recent studies by the International Telecommunication Union show that the market for mobiles and smartphones has witnessed steady growth in the GCC countries with current average penetration levels of 188 per cent in 2011, and expected to touch 195 per cent in 2012.
Driven by its high per capita income and rapid growth in many economic sectors, the UAE has led the mobile telephone growth in the region with a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 37 per cent, to achieve mobile penetration levels of 200 plus per cent of the population. Penetration of smart phones is expected to increase by 11 per cent year on year over the next three years and the Magnus brand mobile phones are all set to leverage this growth.
The new Magnus range including M1, M3, M4, M5, M8, MX4, MX5 and ML01 will be available in the UAE immediately, with possible expansion to other GCC & MENA markets by December 2011. The Magnus brand of mobile phones has been effectively priced to make it accessible to all customer segments at various price points, and will be available at more than 20 Telelink outlets and 300 retailers across the GCC in the first phase.
In addition to the ‘healthy’ call handling and bio-metric features, Magnus range of mobiles are also equipped with standard features of dual SIM standby support, FM radio, TFT screen, GPRS/WAP, Bluetooth enabled, WIFI connectivity and with the capability to support MP3/ MP4/AGP/WMA applications. Each of Magnus handset comes with a lifetime warranty as one of its key customer offering.
Magnus will be showcasing its entire line of products including smartphones with biometric features and Tablet touch pad at GITEX starting October 9 -13, 2011.
