Graham Nichols is the new Managing Director of Amadeus Gulf
Amadeus Gulf today inaugurated its new headquarters in Abu Dhabi, close to the Abu Dhabi International Airport. The strategic move, aimed at complementing the fast-growing Gulf travel and tourism sector, follows the recent appointment of Graham Nichols as Managing Director of Amadeus Gulf.
The new state-of-the-art technology office is conveniently located on the ninth floor of the SJ Tower in close proximity to the airlines and travel community. Amadeus Gulf has taken advantage of the relocation to upgrade its equipment and technical infrastructure to include a highly advanced Training Centre. The premises also feature dedicated departments for sales, customer support, operations, finance, marketing and products.
Amadeus Gulf continues to expand its customer base through diversifying its presence to meet the growing needs of local markets being the UAE, Oman and Bahrain. The company is well regarded for its delivery of best-in-class service and innovative products that suit evolving market conditions. Omeir Travel, Abu Dhabi Travel Bureau (ATB) and Al Jaber in Abu Dhabi, Khimji’s House of Travel, Eihab Travel and Al Hashar Travel in Oman and Al Futtaim Travel in Dubai are some of the leading travel agents that have appointed Amadeus as their technology partner.
In his role as Managing Director, Graham John Nichols will be accountable for growing the business in the Gulf region (UAE, Oman and Bahrain). He replaces Adrian Gane, who has been appointed as Regional General Manager - Field Sales, at Etihad Airways. Graham has moved to Abu Dhabi joining Etihad as the Managing Director of their Joint venture with Amadeus in the Gulf region.
A British national, Graham brings extensive experience in the corporate world. Previously, he was Group Managing Director at Youtravel.com, an internet accommodation provider or ‘bed bank’ selling mainly to the UK and European on-line travel agency market. Earlier, while serving as Vice-President, Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia at Worldspan, Graham managed a large restructuring that resulted in a turnover of US$250 million in the region and subsequently worked on the European integration plan for the merger with Travelport. He has previous experience with Amadeus in his role as Managing Director of Amadeus UK, where he led a 4 year period of rapid growth. Prior to that Graham headed the aviation business for Esso UK including P&L responsibility for all airline fuel contracting and the refueling operation at UK airports. He has also served as Head of IT Development for Esso UK having begun his career in Exxon Mobil after graduating in Mathematics.
