Ayaadi Launches e-Library Application For Smart Phones And Tablet Devices
(28 June 2012)

Etisalat’s corporate social responsibility Initiative - Ayaadi today announced the launch of its e-library portal in collaboration with Ministry of Education. The e-library portal includes applications on smart phones and tablets aimed at developing the student’s intellectual skills by providing them mobile access to vital learning resources such as books, newspapers, research and academic papers.

Speaking on the launch of the application, His Excellency Humaid bin Mohammed Al Qutami, UAE Minister of Education, said: “We recognize the efforts of Ayaadi to support the development and cultural goals of the UAE and this e-library application is another step in the right direction. Continuing the development and progress that the UAE is witnessing requires the contribution of various institutions in both private and public sectors. In this regard, Ayaadi is doing a stellar job in creating learning access points that are most convenient to youth besides encouraging reading culture within the community.”

As part of the e-library initiative, Ayaadi has also introduced a reading competition to encourage the students to invest their free time in reading during their summer holidays.

H.E Al Qutami, added: “The initiative to encourage reading supports the series of efforts adopted by the Ministry in strengthening the Arabic language and literature among our youth. The Arabic language and literature is an area of high interest among our wise leadership, as it shapes our identity, and reflects our civilization and future. The Ministry of Education has completed its Arabic Language Document to meet the high standards and principles acquired, positioning the UAE as a role model in the Arabic language. The document adopted methods, activities and scientific-based competitions.”

Additionally, H.E Al Qutami stressed on the strong correlation between reading and knowledge and the formulation of innovative ideas. Through the competition “Together We Read,” the Ministry aims to support the positive trends that enhance the Arabic language.

H.E Omar Bin Huraiz, Chairman of Board of Trustees of Ayaadi, said: “The launch of this project is in line with Etisalat’s ongoing commitment that aims at supporting various authorities, activities and events, especially the ones that promote intellectual development among youth. The e-learning application has been developed bearing in mind the directives of the UAE’s national leadership, which has encouraged the use of Arabic language in education programs and delivered through telecommunication and information technology platforms, both regionally & internationally.”

Entries for the Ayaadi Reading Competition “Together We Read”, is now available on Facebook on www.facebook.com/ayaadietisalat, or Twitter www.twitter.com/ayaadietisalat. Registration for e- library can be submitted from June 29 at www.ayaadielibrary.ae.

Ayaadi’s e-library has been launched in partnership with Ankabut (Spider Network), the UAE’s national network for research and education. As part of the partnership, Ankabut –which is the UAE’s library-sharing network for universities - will enable Ayaadi’s e-library to be made available to all students and provide an opportunity for academic networking while linking local and international institutions.
