Auditions have commenced for the new season of The Dream Players, a local talent competition allowing the UAE community to realise their performing dreams.
More than 40 people of all ages and nationalities have registered to audition, as singers, actors, poets and film makers.
“Last season, The Dream Players discovered some amazing talent here in the UAE, and now we are even more thrilled because we have a larger pool of submissions covering a wider range of creative talents,” said Sana Bagersh, Executive Producer of The Dream Players.
“Our previous winners – Rebecca Morrison, Osama El Kamel and Christopher Roebuck – set very high standards, and after listening to some of the initial auditions, we are confident that we can continue to reach these levels of performance in the new season.”
The last season of The Dream Players ended on a high with a huge crowd gathering at Al Wahda Mall on 19 April to watch American music teacher Christopher Roebuck receive a perfect score and a standing ovation for his performance of ‘Bring Him Home’ from the musical Les Miserables.
“The range of performers we are auditioning for this season is outstanding,” said Bagersh.
Fifteen nationalities are represented, and their audition pieces cover singing, dancing, poetry, acting and instrumentals. "This is truly representative of the UAE, and we are delighted to be offering these performers the opportunity to achieve their dreams.”
From the auditions, six finalists will be selected to perform on stage in the opening show for the new season, scheduled for September. The finalists will front a live audience and a panel of highly-respected industry judges for the chance to become the next Dream Player.
Despite auditions getting underway, Bagersh said new registrations for The Dream Players are welcome. “We are always looking for new talent, so I’d encourage anyone who is interested in auditioning to visit The Dream Players website to register, then follow us on Twitter for regular updates.”
