Junior golf is set to go indoors this summer as the Saadiyat Beach Golf Club teams up with The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi, to offer youngsters a unique golfing experience through the hotter months. Kicking off this weekend is the first Indoor Junior Golf Challenge, which will run from 9am to 10.30am on Friday 8th and Saturday 9thJune.
The event, which is open to children aged between four and 11 years old, will take place in The Regal Ballroom at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort on a specially created indoor course. Juniors can take part in a series of fun golf exercises before tackling a 9-hole short course, using the latest SNAG and Tri-Golf indoor golf equipment, for a chance to win some incredible prizes.
The Saadiyat professionals will be on hand to share their tips and tricks as well as spot any future talent.
P-J Van Merch, Head of Junior Golf at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, said:
“At Saadiyat Beach Golf Club we’ve seen enormous growth in interest around our junior golf programme. We’ve also seen in recent years juniors who are more knowledgeable about golf as a sport.
“Golf is one of the few sports that can be enjoyed for a whole lifetime. That’s why we encourage parents to get their kids started from a young age. Many of our juniors regularly enjoy playing golf with the whole family.”
“With young kids who are enrolled in our Junior Golf Programme, our philosophy is to build athletes and then turn them into golfers,” Van Merch said. “With the older kids we teach them more golf-specific skills in a fun way that will hopefully create a life-long love for the game.”
Big kids can enjoy special discounted rates at the five star luxury resort this summer, which include two rounds of golf per room at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club, with the option of enjoying one round at the Troon-managed Abu Dhabi Golf Club.
The Summer on Saadiyat promotion offers rooms at The St. Regis Saadiyat Island from 1,199 AED for single occupancy or 1,299 AED for a double, inclusive of two rounds of golf and breakfast at Olea, the Mediterranean-inspired restaurant. Additionally guests will be entitled to a 20% discount on all Iridium Spa treatments and F&B at beach resort as well as a 20% on F&B at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club.
