(13 May 2012)

The Crystal Lagoon, at “Citystars Sharm El Sheikh” will be officially recognized by the Guinness World Records™ as the largest crystal lagoon in the world, offering the Lagoon developer, Citystars Properties,a special occasion to celebrate. The 120,000 m2Crystal Lagoon that clinched the world title is designed by the world-renowned Chilean Architect Fernando Fischmann.

Engineer Yehia al-Meteini, General Manager of Golden Pyramids Plaza, and Chairman of Golden Coast – the developer of the Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada Citystars projects, expressed his great pride in this historic achievement. "The record-breaking Lagoon will add a new dimension to the Tourism and Real Estate markets, not only in Egypt, but also in the Arab region at large," predicted al-Meteini. "Arab developers are quite capable of carrying out large-scale developments, and compete with key global developers, in terms of luxury and grandeur," the top executive of the giant real estate developerstressed out.

"The Crystal Lagoon, at Citystars Sharm al-Sheikh comes in harmony with our earnest endeavor to stayon top of multi-use developments market, in Egypt and to set new internationally-recognized benchmarks, for urban and seaside resorts,” highlighted al-Meteini. “In the light of our commitment to provide a unique lifestyle, we construct, manage, and maintain well-diversified and integrated developments, that exceed expectations of our clients, and bring considerable benefits to the whole society,” emphasized al-Meteini.

According to al-Meteini, this globally competitive project will further promote the city of Sharm al- Sheikh as a magnet to beach tourists from every corner of the globe, and will play a pivotal role in bringing it back in the spotlight, despite the current adverse sector-wide conditions.

“Citystars Properties implements a long-term strategy that is founded by excellence and creativity, with the primary aim of serving and diversifying the national economy, promoting tourism,” added al-Meteini. “Over the past years, we have launched a wide range of developments in different areas of the nation,” he pointed out. Al-Menteini flagged up the fruitful joint endeavor between the world-class developer and the long experienced Architect Fernando Fischmann who previously designed an 80,000 m2 Lagoon in his homeland Chile, which had long held the Guinness title, before the Crystal Lagoon Sharm al-Sheikh clinched it. “The state-of-the-art green design of Crystal Lagoon Sharm al-Sheikh is completely environmentally friendly, and fulfils the highest standards of environmental safety,” al-Meteini explained.

“Citystars Properties chose to unveil this landmark project here in Cityscape Egypt Next Move, in recognition of its paramount significance this year, in as much as it reflects investor confidence in the Egyptian economy,” reaffirmed the top executive. “We would also like to avail ourselves of the opportunity to announce that Citystars Properties has already broke ground with many other mega projects, and will carry on with them over the years to come until they are completed.

The world-famous engineer, Joaquin Konow, and GM of the Chile-based Crystal Lagoons Corporation expressed a feeling of genuine pleasure for participating in the Cityscape exhibition. “Thanks to Citystars Properties, it’s an honor to be part of this mega project in Egypt and particularly in a fascinating city as Sharm El Sheikh.”
“Once it is completed, the Sharm El Sheikh version of the Crystal Lagoon will clinch the world title, and will attract global attention, especially among beach tourists,” predicted Konow.

Konow stated that his company will employ its most sophisticated patented technology in the design and construction of the Sharm-based Crystal Lagoon. Our green technology has drawn worldwide attention, owing to its demonstrated efficiency in generating and using clean energy, Konow pointed out proudly. According to Konow, this innovative technology will enable electro-thermal power plants to perform all the required cooling activities more efficiently, but without using the traditional cooling towers, which rely on seawater, or other natural resources.

He added that this top notch technology will cut down on the installation costs, as well as on the amounts of water consumed in heat recovery. As these clean technology doesn’t rely on seawater or cooling, the Lagoon’s power plant can be installed away from the sea coast; thus, reducing the potential environmental hazards.

It’s worth mentioning that Citystars Properties has scooped an award at the Cityscape Abu Dhabi Awards, the Middle East region’s leading real estate development and investment event concluded on the 25th of April, 2012. Citystars’ pioneering project “Citystars Sharm El Sheikh” won the award for “Best Residential Project Award (Future), while Citystars properties was shortlisted for 3 prestigious awards, “Best Mixed Development Award” for its flagship Citystars Heliopolis project, “Best Mixed Use Development Award”, and “Best Urban Design & Master Planning Award” for Citystars Sharm El Sheikh.
