Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi said here today that UAE is hopeful of China’s support in its bid to host Expo 2020 in Dubai, considering the economic, political and strategic ties between the two countries.
Sheikha Lubna is in China at the head of a delegation to participate in the Canton Fair 2012 which is currently underway in Guangzhou.
After the opening ceremony of the Canton Fair, Sheikha Lubna, accompnied by the members of the delegation, toured various wings and met with Chinese officials.
China’s Vice Minister of Commerce Zhong Shan agreed that the UAE has the full capability to host the global event of Expo 2012.
He promised to recommend to the relevant Chinese agencies, the UAE’s wish for China’s support.
Sheikha Lubna expressed happiness to head UAE’s delegation to the Canton Fair and meet the officials.
The Canton Fair, held in Guangzhou twice a year in spring and autumn since 1957, has over 50 years of history and is attended by many decision makers from around the world.
