Indus Creed Ready To Rock Abu Dhabi
(10 April 2012)

After a gap of 15 years, India’s trailblazing rock band, Indus Creed, is ready to take center stage on 26th April 2012 at the Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi. Originally known in the ’80s as Rock Machine, the all-male 5-member band—comprising Uday Benegal, Mahesh Tinaikar, Zubin Balaporia, Rushad Mistry and Jai Row Kavi—is currently touring across India to launch their new album ‘Evolve’.

Known for their high-voltage stage performances, Indus creed produced chart-toppers in the late ’80s and early ’90s, such as ‘Top of the Rock’, ‘Trapped’ and the massive hit ‘Pretty Child’. In 1993, ‘Pretty Child’ won the MTV Video Music Award (Asia-wide) and was also ranked 9th-best music video of the year, beating out the likes of Madonna and Michael Jackson. They are also the first Indian band for whom MTV produced a ’Rockumentary’ and the first Indian rock band to be invited to play at Peter Gabriel’s Womad festival.

’Evolve’, the latest Indus Creed offering, has been mixed by Grammy-nominated mixing engineer Tim Palmer, who has also mixed albums by Pearl Jam, U2, Ozzy Osbourne and Mark Knopfler amongst others. The final touch to the production sequence of ’Evolve’, called mastering, was done by veteran mastering engineer Andy VanDette in New York City, whose work includes albums by Rush, Beastie Boys and Porcupine Tree. The inspiration behind the music of ’Evolve’ is – ‘life as we’ve known and experienced it; it’s the distillation and culmination of our recent experiences’, according to the band. On the pre-release of ’Evolve’, Rolling Stone magazine titled Indus Creed as ‘one of the most important bands in contemporary Indian rock’ while the leading Indian daily, Times of India, quoted, ‘There is enough reason to cheer – Indus Creed is back!’

On April 26th, at the Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi, the band is expected to perform to a packed audience at the Al Dana Ballroom. “We’ll be playing a mix of songs from our new album ’Evolve’ as well as the old favourites stuff that got us here in the first place!”, said Uday Benegal. Sid Sattanathan, General Manger, Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi, says, “We are thrilled to be bringing over Indus Creed. They are no doubt the legends of Indian rock and we believe the capital will definitely be in for treat. The stage has been set, the atmosphere filled with excitement and we look forward to a power packed performance on the 26th of this month.” “It is going to be large and loud and one hell of a blast! We can’t wait to get to the Holiday Inn Abu Dhabi to make some music" adds Uday.
