Manchester United’s DHL Champ19ns Trophy Tour has made a stop at Manchester United Soccer Schools (MUSS) in Abu Dhabi accompanied by two of the club’s former players, Andy Cole and Lee Sharpe.
Children signed up to the MUSS course in the UAE capital were given the chance to raise the prized trophy and meet the former players who played integral roles in Man Utd’s notable successes throughout the 1990s.
The Premier League trophy – the most sought after piece of silverware in English football – is travelling 48,000 miles around the world to 27 destinations, giving Manchester United fans the opportunity to celebrate the club’s prestigious 19 league titles.
Andy Dixon, head coach at MUSS in Abu Dhabi, said: “The children loved getting their hands on the trophy and meeting two of Manchester United’s great players. We teach the children about performing the best they possibly can both on and off the field, so this was a great way to show them just what can be achieved through hard work, dedication and determination.”
The popularity of the MUSS programmes continues to grow since its launch in the UAE capital in 2010 in a partnership with Reem Investments, and the number of sign-ups grows with each ten-week course.
A new spring course taking place during the upcoming UAE school holidays has now been launched, offering kids the chance to sample four days of football coaching based on the same principles employed by the famous Manchester United Academy.
Open to children of all abilities, aged seven to 13, the course starts on Sunday, 25 March at the state of the art indoor facility, the Dome@Rawdhat and costs AED995.
Registration is also open for the new programme starting on Saturday, 7 April which will teach the skills of Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Dimitar Berbatov, Manchester United’s dynamic trio of strikers. All children who sign up to the ‘Learn to Attack with Flair the United way’ course will be entered into a prize draw to win flights and two tickets to Manchester United’s final home game of the current season at Old Trafford against Swansea City on 5 May.
Reem Investments built the Dome@Rawdhat to create a vibrant sporting community in the area and the facilities are used by more than 18,000 people every month. To learn more about the MUSS programme visit www.manutdsoccerschools.ae or call 02 449 8480.
