Al Bateen Executive Airport welcomed today Craig Fuller, President of the Aircraft Owner and Pilot Associations (AOPA) in the United States, and Bruce Landsberg, President of AOPA Safety Foundation, at Abu Dhabi Air Expo to inaugurate the launch of AOPA UAE as the 70th local AOPA to join the International Association of Aircraft Owner and Pilot Associations (IAOPA).
Presided by Yousif Al Hammadi, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for Abu Dhabi Air Expo, Deputy General Manager, Al Bateen Executive Airport, AOPA UAE will promote General Aviation as an efficient mean of self-transportation and encourage teenagers to become pilots. AOPA UAE will also play a major role in promoting access to airspace, airports and international travel.
Commenting on the announcement, Al Hammadi said:
“It is a great honor for ADAC to have been recognized by the prestigious Aircraft Owner and Pilot Association which is dedicated to promote General Aviation worldwide and highlights in turn the company’s commitment towards the same. This recognition comes in line with ADAC’s leadership in the aviation industry in the Middle East through hosting the region’s first general aviation exhibition, Air Expo. Launching the AOPA UAE today marks a significant milestone for aviation in the UAE in general and for Abu Dhabi as a leader in the industry.”
Last night, AOPA President, Craig Fuller, handed over the traditional AOPA coin to Yousif Al Hammadi of Al Bateen, the first to be handed out within the Middle East, to commemorate the inauguration of AOPA UAE during the Abu Dhabi Air Expo Gala Dinner at Shangri-La Bab Al Bahr.
The IAOPA is a nonprofit federation of 69 autonomous, nongovernmental, national general aviation organizations. IAOPA has represented international general aviation for nearly 50 years. The combined total of individuals represented by these constituent member groups of IAOPA is over 470,000 pilots, who fly general aviation aircraft for business and personal transportation.
