Abu Dhabi’s most iconic address, is delighted to announce that it has won two prestigious Gourmet Abu Dhabi Awards.
Rika Yusmita was awarded the celebrated Restaurant Host of the Year honour for her intuitive service at Kazu, the hotel’s Japanese restaurant. Rika, an Indonesian national, has spent the last 15 years working across leading hospitality companies such as Jakarta Borobudur Intercontinental, Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel and Yas Viceroy. It was at the latter two properties that her love for Japanese cuisine blossomed. Not resting on her laurels and award, Rika holds big plans for the restaurant "I see a great deal of potential in Kazu to become the finest Japanese restaurant in the UAE, this is why I joined the hotel 3 years ago".
Regional Cuisine Restaurant of the Year was awarded to Atayeb, Yas Viceroy’s signature regional Mediterranean and Arabian restaurant where your palate is treated to a delectable marriage of old world taste and modern flair. Chef Wafaei, has created an award winning menu combining classic and contemporary Middle Eastern dishes and flavours including Tajines and couscous dishes from Tunisia, Lebanon and Syria, all of which are cooked over custom made charcoal stoves and grills. On receiving the Award, Chef Wafaei commented: "œAtayeb is committed to redefining the traditional concept of Middle Eastern food through innovative dishes and exemplarily service. We are delighted to have been awarded Regional Cuisine Restaurant of the Year by Gourmet Abu Dhabi."
