The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA) has announced the launch of its ‘Absher Doctors’ initiative that is designed to create a mobile pool of specialists and sub-specialists that can be distributed throughout the SEHA Health System to cope with patient increasing demands.
The programme, which has been introduced by SEHA’s corporate office, is designed to address the limited number of specialists in certain clinical and medical fields across the SEHA Health System, particularly in remote and rural locations. Coping with an increasing need for certain clinical specialties and subspecialties across its network, SEHA aims to minimise the excessive waiting times that can result from supply and availability gaps.
“SEHA has made the development of human recourses and healthcare professionals’ availability a priority in its agenda of delivering excellence in healthcare to international standards. However, the training of clinical specialists is a long-term investment. In the meanwhile, SEHA’s ‘Absher Doctors’ programme will ensure a mobile pool of specialists that may be allocated to facilities across SEHA’s network of healthcare providers as needed,” said Mr. Khalifa Al Ketbi, Deputy Chief Operations Officer, SEHA.
‘Absher Doctors’ scheme will ensure that the necessary medical expertise is made available through a program of resource sharing and service rotation, which will minimise waiting times and save patients the trouble of having to transfer to other healthcare sites.
The ‘Absher Doctors’ program is kick starting with a series of seminars on its aims and initiatives, and various health issues. Lectures will be being held for physicians, clinical and non-clinical staff, and the community at large, and will cover the ‘Absher Doctors’ program as well as topics such as the prevention of cardiovascular disease.

The ‘Absher Doctors’ programme addresses healthcare needs from a patient-centred healthcare system perspective by establishing a specialty and subspecialty clinical resource pool of designated personal, which will be mobilized in a structured manner across the SEHA Health System as needed. The programme will ensure equitable access to quality healthcare by providing critical specialities to patients regardless of location, and will also foster opportunities for domestic healthcare team to enhance competency and capacity via collaboration and knowledge transfer.
