Hamad Al Hurr Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Department of Finance - Abu Dhabi (DoF) received the Lord Mayor of the City of London Alderman David Wootton at DoF’s main headquarters.
The visit aimed at enhancing relations, promoting economic and financial cooperation, and encouraging exchange of expertise between the Abu Dhabi and the City of London.
During the meeting, the Lord Mayor and his accompanying delegation were briefed on Abu Dhabi’s services and best practices with regards to government financial management and relations.
Commenting on the visit, Hamad Al Suwaidi said: "We are pleased to welcome the Lord Mayor of the City of London Alderman David Wootton and his accompanying delegation to Abu Dhabi, where this visit aims to strengthen and support joint financial efforts between DoF- Abu Dhabi and the City of London. Abu Dhabi and the City of London have enjoyed a long, fruitful relationship over the period of five decades, where they have both cooperated in efforts pertaining to the economic and financial spheres." Al Suwaidi added: "This visit served as a platform for exchanging expertise in different financial and economic sectors. The City of London is considered a leader in terms of government financial framework."
Lord Alderman David Wootton said: "We are pleased to have had the opportunity to visit Abu Dhabi and the Emirate’s Department of Finance. Abu Dhabi pertains economic and investment aspects on par with global standards. During the visit, we held discussions on the strong ties present between the UAE and the UK, and we highlighted methods of how to further promote these relations." Lord Mayor of the City of London Alderman David Wootton will be visiting a number of different financial organizations and institutions, banks and academic entities in Abu Dhabi to gain deeper insight into the strategies and projects implemented by the Emirate in different domains.
