SEHA Implements Patient Safety Net System To improve Patient Care
(23 January 2012)
Real Time Reporting System To Monitor And Benchmark Healthcare Facilities

In a bid to ensure uniform excellence and world-class quality of care in all its healthcare facilities, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC’s (SEHA) has started implementing PSN (Patient Safety Net) - a real time, online quality monitoring system - across its network.

The PSN system will standardize reporting formats across all SEHA healthcare providers, making them directly comparable. It will also allow for trend and benchmark analysis, facilitating the setting of progressive quality goals for SEHA facilities.

“The PSN system is a step forward in adhering to SEHA’s customary ethos of excellence, and its vision of delivering world class healthcare to Abu Dhabi’s residents. The system will improve benchmarking and monitoring, and further catalyze a culture of safety and effectiveness as healthcare providers look to improve their reporting,” said Dr Ali Al Obaidli, Clinical Officer, Clinical Affairs, SEHA. “At the same time, the PSN will also allow us to share recommendations, best practices and guidelines consistently through our healthcare network, ensuring a more uniform quality of excellent care.”

Tawam, Corniche and Al Rahba Hospitals have been using the PSN system since October 2011. The rollout has now been extended to other SEHA healthcare facilities including Al Ain Hospital, AHS, SKMC, GMR and Mafraq.

“The uniform implementation of the PSN system will allow SEHA HQ to monitor patient safety across the SEHA system, and initiate a process of benchmarking, thereby creating a culture of safety assessment. The overall aim of the PSN system is to create a culture of responsibility and reporting that results in consistent healthcare of a very high quality,” said Dr. Karen Carbone, Corporate Deputy Chief Clinical Affairs Officer, Clinical Affairs Division , SEHA.
