Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and President of Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University (HBMeU), the Annual Congress 2012 will be held from January 30 until February 1, 2012, at the University premises and also at Atlantis The Palm. Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University, a leader in the field of e-Learning and quality management in the Arab World, recently launched the Annual Congress 2012 during a press conference at HBMeU in Dubai Academic City. HBMeU delegates discussed at the press conference the agenda of the Annual Congress 2012, which serves as an international platform for hosting three distinguished parallel conferences on e-Learning Excellence, Health & Environment, and Quality. The Annual Congress 2012 will be held under the theme “Innovation-based Competitiveness” in line with the commitment of HBMeU to grow the body of knowledge in the region by bringing leading intellectuals, scientists and likeminded people together and stimulating intellectual discussion between them.

Rowan Gibson, who is widely recognized as one of the world’s foremost thought leaders in enterprise innovation and is acknowledged as “the Innovation Grandmaster”, will be the main keynote speaker of the Annual Congress where he will discuss the process of promoting a culture of creativity and innovation. He will also talk about the “four lenses of innovation”, which encourages enterprises to rethink their products, services, strategies and business models in order to create a new value for customers, thereby opening new growth opportunities and enhancing global competitiveness.

Dr. Narimane Hadj-Hamou, Assistant Chancellor for Learning and Academic Development and Congress Chair, said: "The Annual Congress 2012 is a very important step in our efforts to cultivate a culture of learning and knowledge in the Middle East. It will encourage scientific interaction among the region’s scientists, researchers, and renowned experts in the field of e-Learning, e-Health, and Quality, who will present novel ideas and concepts, demonstrate how original research is supported by evidence-based arguments, share new discoveries and illustrate best practice applications in various sectors of the economy. In light of increasing challenges in the pursuit of success and sustainable innovation, we had been very keen to host this year the international expert Rowan Gibson, to discuss comprehensive approaches to help enterprises achieve excellence and success in a world dominated by ‘innovation economics’, as he has explained in his famous book, Innovation to the Core. We are also pleased to announce the participation of Dr. Frits Pannekoek , President of Athabasca University, and representatives from the University of South Africa (UNISA), has been collaborating with HBMeU’s e-School of Health and Environmental Studies to organise the ‘Fourth e-Health and Environment Conference in the Middle East’.

The Congress presents an important opportunity to create a conducive environment for exchange of ideas and visions to promote a means of understanding and joint cooperation among experts in the fields of e-learning, healthcare, environment and quality in order to open up promising opportunities to further promote the culture of innovation and excellence. This year’s Annual Congress will feature a series of panel discussions on research papers from different countries around the world. The event will also host a series of ‘Policy and Strategy’ roundtables to shed light on the major issues pertaining to quality, education and health, respectively titled “Quality – Policy and Strategy”, “e-Learning – Policy and Strategy” and “Health – Policy and Strategy”. At the end of the roundtable meetings, a comprehensive report will be prepared outlining the outcome, decisions and recommendations.”

Ms. Nadia Amanallah Kamali, Marketing and Communication Director, said: “We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all the partners and sponsors for their active participation in reaffirming the role of the Annual Congress as an ideal platform for greater academic and corporate innovation, excellence and scientific research, especially Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA), Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Dubai Press Club.”
