A delegation from the Commercial Affairs Sector in the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development recently visited the Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) to review the workflow and procedures within the Business Registration and Licensing Division of DED. The visit was part of the strategic partnership between the two government departments to achieve the aspirations of the UAE leadership and position the country among the most advanced countries by 2021.
The visiting delegation, headed by Aisha Al Shaikh Al Zaabi, CEO of the Commercial Affairs Sector in Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development, was received by Mr Mohammed Shael Al Saadi, CEO, Business Registration and Licensing Division, DED. The visit was aimed to exchange ideas and future strategies, and discuss ways to unify them for mutual benefit.
“The delegation’s visit underscores the efforts among various government departments in the UAE to provide the best solutions and innovative mechanisms for the convenience of customers, as well as to raise performance levels and enhance productivity. DED will continue to hold similar exchanges and joint workshops with other government bodies in future to promote business growth across vital sectors in the UAE,” said Al Saadi.
The two parties discussed possible unification of certain procedures in both departments, including the shift from traditional services to e-services to speed up processes for customers and renewal of licenses of Dubai investors in Abu Dhabi and vice versa, in addition to streamlining the search for trade names by linking government bodies.
“Such partnerships are beneficial to the national economy of the UAE, most notably to keep up with the latest developments and weight them against regional and global standards as well as take joint decisions on issues of common interest. Our previous meetings with DED have resulted in the exchange of information and data sharing in the fields of foreign investment, small and medium enterprises, and export development,” said Al Zaabi.
Al Zaabi also emphasised the role of government institutions in Dubai and the UAE in achieving the goals set by the UAE Vision 2021 and the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.
The strategic partnership between the Dubai Department of Economic Development and Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development includes cooperation in different fields such as economic studies, inspection, control and commercial protection, international relations (investment and exports), quality, excellence and training, strategic planning, and legislation.
