Mafraq Hospital, owned and operated by the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA), has received international accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI), the global leader in accrediting healthcare organisations.
As part of its commitment to providing excellence in healthcare, SEHA stipulates that all of its healthcare service providers should obtain international independent accreditation, to ensure world-class standards of medical care and treatment in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Mr. Harold E. Chilton, Acting Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer, Mafraq Hospital, said, “This accomplishment crowns a year of international and local achievements for Mafraq Hospital, including becoming the first healthcare facility to receive the Diamond Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award (SKEA), and being named the 2011 Stevie Awards’ customer service team of the year. Mafraq Hospital received the JCI accreditation following the visit of a team of licensed international experts from the organisation, which carried out an audit to ensure that international standards related to patient safety were met without exception. Continuous and constant adherence to these standards by the Hospital’s staff is required to maintain the accreditation.
Mafraq Hospital is part of the SEHA Health System and is owned and operated by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company PJSC (SEHA), which is responsible for the curative activities of all the public hospitals and clinics in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
The SEHA Health System now boasts seven hospitals, 16 clinics, and one Ambulatory Health Services Clinic with JCI Accreditation displaying the JCI Gold Seal of Approval. From Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, these include Sheikh Khalifa Hospital, the 14 Specialty Outpatient Clinics of SKMC, and the Abu Dhabi Blood Bank which is operated by SKMC. Other facilities displaying the JCI trademark Gold Seal include, Corniche Hospital, Tawam Hospital, Tawam Dental Clinic, Al Ain Hospital, Madinat Zayed Hospital, Khalifa A Ambulatory Healthcare Centre and Al Rahba Hospital- the first public hospital in the Emirate to achieve JCIA.
