Porsche Centre Abu Dhabi Continued Its Driving Safety Event In A Prominent School In Abu Dhabi And In Al Ain Mall
(21 December 2011)
Early Safety Education Principles Stressed At Glenelg School Of Abu Dhabi And At Al Ain Mall

Porsche Centre Abu Dhabi conducted a three day programme at the Glenelg School and wound it down at Al Ain Mall this week. This was part of a driver safety awareness programme being rolled out in schools and public malls. Porsche’s corporate social responsibility programme provides guidance, through the appeal of ’edutainment’ to a target group of three to nine year olds. In a theoretical part, children learn about the importance of wearing seat belts and using a pedestrian crossing correctly. Following this, they drive Porsche 911 pedal cars through a maze of roadways and street roadblocks in a simulated driving experience complete with working traffic lights.

Porsche’s Brand Manager Wissam Khalil explained, "At Porsche we believe in promoting responsible driving within the community, and our Porsche Kids Driving Safety (PKDS) campaign enables us to reach out to kids and build early awareness on fundamental traffic rules that can save lives."

Khalil explained that the Porsche Kids Driving School (PKDS) campaign is an established educational initiative and one that affirms the importance of early learning as "today’s children will be tomorrow’s drivers," and added, "we believe in some situations children can actually influence their parents.”

After attending a lecture class and taking part in a test drive, kids receive a ‘Porsche Driving License’ along with an entertaining booklet, promotional gifts and a safety driving handbook for their parents.

The campaign wound down at Al Ain Mall last week, bringing the total number of children who participated in all three venues, and received the Porsche ‘Driving License’ to 651.

Paula Musson Elementary Principal said: "Our student enjoyed learning about road signals, traffic rules and especially getting their own Porsche driving license along with a safety driving handbook for the parents. This event introduced a lot of information in an enjoyable way and our students participated enthusiastically," she added.

The campaign held at Glenelg, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Mall follows a similar programme at the Khalidiya Mall last month.
