A colourful entertainment program in a night full of folk dance, songs and poetry marked the end of the activities of ADNOC Heritage Village "Union Fort.
The two-week activities, organized by ADNOC & its Group Companies to celebrate the 40th UAE National Day, kicked off on November 22nd at the village, located on the Corniche in front of the Sheikh Khalifa Energy Complex.
Thousands of people from all walks of life visited the village on daily basis to share the nation-wide joy of the 40th National Day celebration and get a first-hand experience of some the UAE’s traditional arts and crafts.
The celebratory programme featured a host of activities including traditional folk songs and dance, poetry, quizzes, raffle draws etc... The village offered an Arabian hospitality atmosphere showcasing traditional shops and handicraft products. Local women dressed in the traditional costume prepared authentic Saj bread, local food and delicious Arabic coffee, while other women and men demonstrated traditional weaving techniques and other local handicrafts.
The visitors also had the opportunity to sign the Allegiance Document, in a tribute to the country’s leadership.
The program of the last evening was orchestrated by the renowned UAE humorist Ali Al Tamimi, who added flavor to the evening and captivated the audience with his sense of humor and figurative language. UAE TV show anchors Hareb Al Suwaidi and Manal Ahmed spiced up the show which featured an informative yet entertaining heritage quiz programme.
The closing ceremony was attended by Ali Rashid Al Jarwan, ADMA-OPCO Chief Executive Officer who commended the participation of people of diversified cultures in the country’s national day celebrations.
“I’m really glad to see this large number of people who came to celebrate the dear occasion of the 40th National Day of our beloved country which coincides with the celebration of ADNOC’s 40th Anniversary. I think this is a unique opportunity for all the people who call the UAE home to show their loyalty and pride and salute the nation’s rich history, culture and progress.”
The celebratory programme throughout the two-weeks received an overwhelming feedback from the audience.
“Family bond and unity are actually the perfect words to describe the night,” said Mazin Mohamed, an Abu Dhabi-based IT specialist who attended the closing ceremony.
“This is the second evening I come with my kids. I have promised to bring them here if they did their preparation for the exam early,” said Um Mohamed, A Palestinian lady and mother of two.
