ADNOC Heritage Village "Union Fort", organized by ADNOC & its Group Companies to celebrate the UAE 40th National Day continued to attract thousands of visitors who come to experience a true feel of the local heritage.
Yesterday evening, the second day of the official launch of the village’s activities attracted more than 1500 people of different nationalities who had the chance to watch the colourful celebratory programme.
The day started with a heritage quiz programme presented by renowned UAE artist Ali Al Tamimi, followed by a spectacular laser show. Local singer Khalid Hamad performed a number of folk and patriotic songs that marked the event. A number of folkloric songs and dances performed by local and expatriate troupes thrilled the audience.
The visitors had the chance to tour the stalls set up at the heritage village including the ’Bedouin’ tent, where Arabian coffee and dates are offered. The visitors also toured the handcrafts and folklore arts and the marine stalls displaying handcrafts and traditional items related to different aspects of the UAE marine heritage, in addition to the local cuisine stall where they enjoyed delicious traditional dishes. Other stalls of the village depict the early life in the UAE, particularly the pearl diving and hunting in the pre-oil area.
Media gathering
A media gathering was held at the Beduin Tent and was attended by a large number of senior journalists led by UAE Journalists Association Chairman Mr. Mohamed Yousef and senior executives from ADNOC and its Group of Companies. The journalists included representatives of local and international newspapers and news agencies.
ADNOC & its Group of Companies’ executives included Ms. Badria Khalfan, Deputy Director of HR and Administration, ADNOC, Rashid A. Al Shamsi, Senior Vice President (Administration) GASCO and PR managers of number of ADNOC Group of companies.
The forum provided both sides with the chance to enhance communication channels and discuss ways of improving relations for the benefit of all. According to the attendees, the spirit of the union helped bring the media and ADNOC executives all together in a friendly atmosphere.
Ms. Badria Khalfan welcomed the media representatives and expressed the appreciation of ADNOC & its Group of Companies of the pivotal role played by the media in reflecting the true image and conveying the message in a professional way.
She said the concurrence of the 40th UAE National Day with the 40th Anniversary of the ADNOC’s Establishment was a clear indication of the strong bond between ADNOC and the country’s growth and development process.
Ms. Huda Al Matroushi, Vice President -General Services (GASCO) said the gathering was organized in recognition of the leading role of the media.
At the end of the gathering, Badria Khalfan honoured the Chairman of the UAE Journalists Association and the media representatives in presence of ADNOC Group executives.
It is worth mentioning that the Village will remain open to the public until December 4, 2011 from 9am-1pm and from 5pm-9pm.
