As part of Al Forsan’s continued efforts to bring the very best in competitive sports to the Capital, the Resort has teamed up with the World Wakeboard Association ( WWA) to host the last leg of the 2011 WWA Wake Park World Championships in Abu Dhabi from 7 to 10 December.
A grand total of $50,000 will be up for grabs as the world’s top professional wakeboarders compete for the top title in the sport. A prize pool of $30,000 will be awarded across four different divisions including Pro Men, Pro Obstacles, Pro Women and Pro Wakeskaters. $20,000 will be awarded to the overall winners of the WWA Wake Park World Series. So far, the championship has already toured Canada, the Netherlands and Germany and will climax with the final round in Abu Dhabi.
Al Forsan International Sports Resort, strategically located in Khalifa City, is equipped with two full cable systems and a two-tower system; one of only two venues in the world to boast right –foot-forward and left-foot-forward cables at the same location. The cable will no doubt further enhance the event itself, taking place in the Middle East for the first time in WWA World Series history. The WWA Wake Park World Championships will take place between the 7th and 10th of December with the professional finals taking place on Friday 9th and Saturday 10th of December. Spectators will be ensured of an exhilarating experience as they watch the world’s most successful wakeboarders compete for the biggest prize in the sport.

Tickets for the event will be reasonably priced at AED 30 and will be available for purchase at the main gate. A special Kidz Zone will operate on the final two days of competition complete with pony rides, bouncy castles and face painting. Catered lounge packages are also available at Al Forsan. The event runs from 9:00am- 5:00pm each day and will have a distinct seaside picnic feel, so bring your blanket and relax around the lake.
In addition to extensive water sports facilities, Al Forsan International Sports Resort also offers a range of other attractions including motor sports, paintball, shooting and a fully equipped equestrian centre as well as other activities for personal fitness. The Resort also boasts 5 fine dining outlets, including the newly commissioned Asian Zenses Restaurant.
