In tribute to the nation’s 40th anniversary, a series of elaborate illuminations will light up two landmarks of national identity - Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the historic Al Jahil Fort - in Abu Dhabi.
This astonishing light show resembles the vision of our late Sheikh Zayed through its contemporary illustrations and light technology. This spectacular display of light, color and a montage of imagery is free of charge to all who want to view the show and will run from the 29th November- 3rd December with numerous shows. The scenes of the show have been personalised for each venue to respect the unique attributes of the landmarks.
Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque
The first show, which will run for nine minute will commence at 6:30PM, followed by the second show at 7:30PM, and subsequent performances at 30 minute intervals. Shows will begin promptly on the hour and half hour. The final showing at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque will be at 12:45 A.M.
The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Illumination highlights the original vision Shiekh Zayed had for the mosque, architectural accomplishments, spectacular design elements and the resplendid beauty of the structure. The show will begin with scenes resembling Shiekh Zayed’s personal concept for the Mosque swirling throughout the building and progress into projections highlighting the Mosque’s geometry. There will also be scenes illustrating the spectacular effect of the Grand Chandelier in the main prayer hall, stunning flora imagery representing the renaissance of the UAE, the quibla wall and the Mosques Mirab which inspired the rotating domes and gold accents.
The unifying spirit of Sheikh Zayed, his passion for the environment through projections of beautiful botanical flowers and Sheikh Zayed’s overarching vision for the Mosque to become a centre of cultural collaboration, promoting mutual understanding between communities from all around the world.
AL AIN FORT
The 6 minute shows at Al Jahil Fort will start at 6:30 P.M. and the last showing will begin at 11:30 P.M.
This amazing show opens with a powerful symbol of pride and strength: The Falcon swooping across the vast dunes of the nation moving into a visual representation of the journey of the UAE through historical images. A spectacular montage of light revels a lifelike underwater scene which seamlessly transitions into a beautiful night sky of the Arabian Gulf to represent the significance of these natural elements on the progression of the Nation. The life of Sheikh Zayed is also illustrated in artistic Bedouin and falconry scenes, followed by the progression of settlement patterns and evolution into a time of prosperity for the UAE.
The show concludes with a montage of unity: the tribes of the UAE coming together, the first congregation of the founding fathers, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and current leaders of the nation and the establishment of the UAE beneath the national flag.
All shows are open to the public and free of charge however visitors to Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque must be dressed appropriately on arrival; if not, entry will be denied.
