Manchester City FC this morning flew football hero Patrick Vieira into Abu Dhabi to surprise Sky Blue members in the UAE.
The former player, who is now the Club’s Football Development Executive, happily chatted and posed for pictures with fans who joined the Club’s new free membership programme, designed specifically for City supporters in the UAE.
Patrick then joined them to watch Manchester City play Liverpool at the Sky Blue Fan Zone’s live screening held in The Clubhouse at Zayed Sports City.
“Since joining Manchester City in 2010, I have been to Abu Dhabi several times and every time I return the support and passion for the club grows stronger,” said the Frenchman.
“You see a lot of football fans wearing City shirts and when you speak to them it is clear they really know about football and the club.
“I really love coming to the UAE for the Club and with the launch of Sky Blue membership we can get City fans together and experience the season together.
“The Sky Blue Fan Zone is a great way to create an atmosphere for games and enjoy watching City with fellow fans.”
Patrick is regarded as one of the finest midfield players of his generation and during a glittering career won numerous trophies – including the FA Cup with Manchester City last season.
He also played for Arsenal in England and Juventus and Internazionale in Italy.
At international level he was a true inspiration for France and won both the World Cup and the European Championships with his country.
