With less than 48 hours to go until the ribbon is cut at the inaugural Yas Island Abu Dhabi Striders half marathon and 10 Km, organizers are encouraging the local community to come down and support the runners who will be battling it out against each other while striving to reach their own personal goals.
Taking place on 18th November, 2011 and coming less than a week after the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, this event offers a not-to-be-missed opportunity to support the first race of its kind on Yas Island.
Abu Dhabi Striders race organizer, Steve Watson, said: “Taking in the iconic sites of the island, the event will involve more than 1000 competitors and 100 volunteers. We’re delighted that so many people are already taking part but would love the local community to come down to support the race and the runners. The success of events like this just goes to show how strong the sporting community is becoming in Abu Dhabi.”
Set to be a landmark event for Abu Dhabi’s sporting calendar, friends, family and spectators are welcome to enjoy the day and can find more information about how to get involved at: http://www.abudhabistriders.com/half-marathon.html.
The Half Marathon will commence at 6:30am, followed by the 10km Fun Run at 7:00am.
