During the special occasion of Eid Al Adha, Al Ain Zoo will be open from 10am to 10pm. The extended hours give visitors the opportunity to view the zoo’s diverse animal collection and experience many of its fun activities – allowing families the time to make the most of this festive holiday.
Al Ain Zoo’s recent additions and encounters ensure that every visit reveals something new. Continuing through Eid is the popular Giraffe Feeding experience which takes place five times daily in a specially designed area next to the Reptile House. This unique and interactive wildlife experience allows both young and old alike to enjoy the magnificent giraffe up-close and marvel at their long tongues grabbing treats such as carrots or lettuce.
Children also won’t want to miss spending time at Al Ain Zoo’s new ‘Elezba’ – the farm-style petting zoo designed to encourage young guests to get up close to domesticated furry and feathered animals, especially its newest additions such as rabbits, ponies and buggies. A special skill game area will be a new feature at the zoo this Eid, with various prizes to be won.
During the Eid holidays, guests can also enjoy a special parrot show held daily at 3pm and 5pm at the Education Centre. The popular Bird Show will take place daily at 6:15pm and 7:30pm and will demonstrate a large collection of Birds of Prey presenting their thrilling flying skills in an engaging show.
Commenting on the Eid festivities, Fatima Al Zaabi, Section Head Admissions at Al Ain Zoo said: “Al Ain Zoo is a fun, family destination dedicated to education and conservation in a natural outdoor environment. We look forward to opening our gates to the large number of guests that will be coming to our zoo from around the country and region during Eid Al Adha. Last year, the zoo saw 34,427 people during Eid Al Adha and this year we expect an even larger crowd to enjoy our unique zoo especially as the weather cools down. We have been actively preparing our programs and services in order to provide the best possible experience and are confident that our new activities and encounters will be a source of both enjoyment and enrichment for guests of all ages.”
Guests are encouraged to beat the crowd expected during Eid by purchasing their tickets in advance at the zoo’s ticket windows, allowing them direct entrance to the zoo and helping them avoid long queues. Another added benefit is Al Ain Zoo’s new Ahlan service which gives families the opportunity to book a private golf cart with a driver for a personalised tour around the zoo. Those interested in a more casual tour around the zoo will be sure to enjoy the new Zoo Shuttle Service, which can be booked at the main entrance.
The new operating hours will be effective beginning November 6 and will end on November 8. Regular opening hours from 9am to 8pm will resume after the Eid holidays on November 9.
