The British Business Group (BBG) and Iraqi Business Council (IBC) are to co-chair this year’s prestigious Abu Dhabi Business Forum. The [eleventh] annual Business Forum which takes place at the Fairmont Bab Al Bahr Abu Dhabi on Wednesday 23rd November, will be attended by hundreds of business representatives from the 27 national business groups in Abu Dhabi.
The event is held under the auspices of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The purpose of the forum is to foster greater understanding and relationships between the various business communities which operate in Abu Dhabi and to discuss ways of supporting the growth of the Emirate and the business opportunities this presents for those living and working here. This year’s theme, that of ’Abu Dhabi - Forty Years at the Heart of the Region’, will facilitate an added focus on Abu Dhabi as a point of entry to markets in the rest of the Gulf and Middle East, Central and South Asia and Africa.
Peter Michelmore, Chairman of the British Business Group, said, "Britain is fortunate to have an incredibly strong relationship with Abu Dhabi having worked side by side with the rulers of the emirate for centuries. Britain places enormous value on its long-standing business relationship with Abu Dhabi and the UAE, both as a partner and market in its own right. It is the favoured point of entry to the Gulf, the wider Middle East, Central and South Asia, East and South Africa. Infrastructure and location makes Abu Dhabi the principal hub between Europe and Singapore."
"Britain’s special relationship with Abu Dhabi has led to numerous reciprocal trade agreements between the two countries and a deep mutual understanding of each other’s cultures and shared values. It is therefore an enormous privilege for the British Business Group to be co-chairing this year’s Abu Dhabi Business Forum," Peter added.
Itidal Hasoon Al Sheikh, Chairman of the Iraqi Business Council, said, "Abu Dhabi is at the very heart of the Middle East and provides an excellent entry point to Asia for many countries from the West. As a champion of enterprise, innovation and business Abu Dhabi provides organisations with an enormous opportunity to meet and strike up partnerships. The Iraqi Business Council is honoured to be co-chairing this year’s Abu Dhabi Business Forum and looks forward to a successful and enjoyable day."
