Last night Abu Dhabi Corniche was transformed into a sea of vibrant colours as Yasalam 2011 brought another fantastic community event to the shores of the Capital.
As part of Yasalam Live on the Corniche, the beach played host to a crowd of twirling Flamenco dancers, eye-catching Bollywood dancers and some incredible music from all over the world. This year’s opening parade, which was themed around the 19 Grand Prix races around the world, was a breathtaking sight not to be missed. The crowd was led by 100 professional dancers and international performers, in addition to 350 children from 13 schools across Abu Dhabi.
Shatha Al Romaithi, Official spokesperson for Flash Entertainment, said:
“Last night’s opening parade was a fantastic success bringing people of all ages together and a superb reminder of the excitement building across Abu Dhabi as we move towards the 2011 Formula 1™ Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
“The Parade is just one of the ways the city is celebrating Yasalam 2011 here on Abu Dhabi Corniche. Over the next week we will be seeing more motorsport flavored action in the F1 FanZone™, a live digital design battle in Cut&Paste this Thursday, the short film competition Tropfest and the ever popular, family-friendly Cinema by the Sea event. And of course there is the return of the hugely popular Beats on the Beach starting 9th November. This year’s Yasalam Live on the Corniche is bigger and better than ever before. The fun is just beginning!”
Yasalam evolves and expands year on year, introducing surprising new artists, events and activities. This year the F1 FanZone™ brought to Abu Dhabi by Aabar opened its doors yesterday with a great range of free activities for all, you can experience the virtual thrill of being behind the wheel at an F1™ race in Yasalam Racing Challenge, a 10 F1™ simulators gaming challenge and much more.
The F1 FanZone™ will also give all its visitors the chance to watch the Abu Dhabi F1™ and the India F1™ races on giant screens on the Abu Dhabi Corniche in a great atmosphere that will not be easily forgotten. Yasalam Live on the Corniche activities will continue until November 13th.
