ADNOC Technical Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Cambridge, ESOL Examinations.

The MoU aims to consolidate the existing cooperation between the two establishments in areas of English language testing services and to assist the ATI in providing internationally recognized English language tests to ATI students as well as employees of ADNOC Group to help them face the challenges in the oil and gas industry.

Mubarak Al Muhairbi, ADNOC H R Planning ’&’ Recruitment signed the MoU on behalf of Mohammed S. Al Qubaisi Chairman of the ATI Board of Trustees and Director HR ’&’ Admin. Dr. Mike Milanovic, Chief Executive Officer of Cambridge ESOL signed the MoU for the other party. The event was attended by Omar Al Hamed, ATI Manager and members of ATI management team and Cambridge ESOL, team members .

The MoU will enhance the existing cooperation and coordination between the ATI and the University of Cambridge with a view to enabling the ATI to play a bigger role in developing the linguistic skills of its students and hopefully employees of ADNOC Group Companies in line with the requirements of the oil and gas industry. It also envisages providing support to the ATI to administer examinations from the Cambridge University "Main Suite" of examinations, specifically PET and KET, in addition to any other examinations subject to approval.

Al Muhairbi stated that the MoU would definitely improve the existing cooperation between ATI and Cambridge University and stressed the need to improve the English language proficiency of ATI students as well as ADNOC employees because English is the language of communication in the work place in the oil and gas industry.

On his part, Omar Al Hamed explained that the MoU would enable ATI to provide, in the near future, internationally-recognized testing services to the employees of ADNOC Group Companies.

Dr. Milanovic explained that ’Although Arabic is the official language of the oil and gas industry in the UAE, the industry relies heavily on English for communication, and we have been very impressed by ADNOC’s commitment to raising the standard of English throughout the company, and by the valuable opportunities ADNOC Technical Institute is providing for its students to gain internationally-recognised qualifications’.
