The health Authority – Abu Dhabi (HAAD), the regulatory body for the health care sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, announced today its participation program in the Abu Dhabi Medical Congress 2011, through a large stand at the exhibition area and scientific papers discussing vital health issues at the conference area.
The Congress held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) from October 23 – 25 2011, brings together more than 150 leading international and local industry players to display their latest products and innovations in the management of emergency, primary health care, patient safety.
The HAAD stand is divided into 3 parts, offering 3 live demonstrations to visitors.
As part of its “Road Safety” campaign and in collaboration with Bin-Hamoodah Group and child safety seats manufactures and distributors like Chicco and Maxi-Cosi, HAAD is going to illustrate the importance of child safety seats, how to choose and install the various types.
According to HAAD statistics two thirds of annual deaths and injuries in children are caused by traffic accidents. The studies and research proves that the use of appropriate child safety seats (depending on the size and weight of the child) if installed correctly, can reduce the risk of fatal and severe injuries, in children aged 0-12 years ago, by more than 50%.
In collaboration with Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority and Abu Dhabi Education Council and as part of its “School For health” program, a dedicated area will demonstrate to students and school canteen vendors, updates on School Canteen guidelines. Live demonstration of healthy eating recipes such as healthy sandwiches and healthy sauces will take place daily during with chefs from “Kelvin catering.”
School students will get leaflets and educational tools on “HAAD Food Dome,” a visual education tool launched by HAAD in January 2011, to educate school students on healthy eating habits, and encourage diversity in the food intake by different age groups on daily basis. To help smokers quit smoking, a dedicated area has been set to measure carbon monoxide levels in the lungs to show the difference in this ratio between smokers and non smokers and explain possible ways and tools available to quit. In addition, a detailed explanation on healthy nutrition and body mass index checkups will be conducted at the HAAD stand in collaboration with nutrition experts from “Lively,” a nutrition and diet center specialized in clinical nutrition and weight management.
A number of specialists from HAAD will give lectures and discuss a number of vital health issues, such as current trends in the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology and nursing profession legislation.
