Dubai International Academic City And AIESEC Jointly Host’ UAE LEAD: Youth Leadership Congress’ At NAJAH

Over 300 students and fresh graduates from the region attended the ‘UAE LEAD: Youth Leadership Congress’at NAJAH, the leading education, training exhibition and career fair thathas attracted over 130 exhibitors and more than 18,000 visitors including students, teachers, parents and professionals to seek education and career opportunities in the region and overseas.

Held from 18-20 October at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the Congress was organised by AIESEC, the world’s largest student organisation, in partnership with Dubai International Academic City (DIAC), a member of TECOM Investments’ Education Cluster.

In addition to Youth Leadership Congress, DIAC also supported the NAJAH exhibition along with other key government entities including Abu Dhabi Education Council, Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Emirates National Development Programme.

Delivering the opening keynote address to the UAE LEAD delegates on ‘Youth Leadership: Shaping the Future of the UAE’,Ibrahim Moosa Jamel, Director of Operations, Education Cluster, TECOM Investments, said: “The Education Cluster reaffirms its support to AIESEC, which offers an opportunity for the student community to get involved in shaping policies and opinions related to youth issues.

“Initiatives such as the UAE LEAD: Youth Leadership Congress also serve as a platform for government and business leaders to establish a two-way dialogue with the students. This complements our objectives of developing human capital in the UAE and the region, in additiontocontributing to shaping aknowledge-based economy.”

The Congress featuredleadership workshops, keynote-speeches by eminent speakers and customized sessions on practical skills, making it a first-of-its-kind youth-development event in the UAE.

The second day of the Congress was devoted to women empowerment.Lara Yacoub, Partner Development Manager at DIAC,briefed a group of female students on the variety of universities and programmesavailable at DIAC. New modules introduced from the 2011 intake such as undergraduate degrees in Nanotechnology, Aerospace Engineering and Nuclear Sciences, as well as Master’s Programmes in International Relations and Doctorate studies in Biotechnology were additionally highlighted.
