- Contemporary jewellery realized using a vintage gem-cutting style
- Kim Kardashian gifted with stunning piece from the collection
- Mouawad’s record breaking 1001 Nights Purse also on display at ADNEC
Mr. Fred Mouawad, Co-Guardian of Mouawad, on Monday 17th October unveiled the brand’s new Rosette Collection during a VIP reception held at the Mouawad booth on the opening day of the Abu Dhabi Jewellery & Watch Show at ADNEC.
Featuring rose-cut stones set in 18 k white gold, the Rosette Collection is a gorgeous line of contemporary and opulent jewellry that takes its inspiration from the fabulous rosette jewellery beloved in European fashion from the 14th to the 18th centuries. The collection’s name is inspired by the rose diamond shape that dominated gem cutting styles until the 18th century. Mouawad’s genius is in re-envisioning these antique styles for a contemporary audience of jewellery aficionados and A-list celebrities.
Hollywood star, Kim Kardashian, who was in the UAE this weekend, was delighted to receive an enchanting heart necklace from the Rosette Collection during her visit. Mouawad wanted to celebrate Kim’s presence in the UAE as she has long been a valued customer of the Mouawad boutique in LA. The pendant she received is available at the Abu Dhabi Jewellery & Watch Show and all Mouawad stores, priced at 25,000 USD. Kim joins a long list of celebrities, including Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria, Naomi Campbell and Paris Hilton, who have been photographed wearing designs from the collection.
“With the Rosette Collection, we wanted to showcase the very best in modern jewellery for the contemporary woman, while celebrating the classic craftsmanship and beauty of vintage cut and design,” said Fred Mouawad. “Introducing a Mouawad signature collection at the Abu Dhabi Jewellery & Watch Show is ideal for us. Not only is it one of the region’s leading jewellery shows, it is also the perfect occasion to connect with jewellery lovers in Abu Dhabi before the opening of our new flagship store in the UAE capital early next year.”
Also on display at the Mouawad booth is the stunning Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse, certified by the Guinness World Record authority as the most valuable handbag in the world. The heart shape purse is handcrafted from 18 k gold, incorporates 4,517 diamonds (105 yellow, 56 pink and 4,356 colorless) with a total weight of 381.92 carats and is valued at 3.8 million USD.
Crafted in pave sets, Rosette uses a vintage cut to elaborate on a thoroughly modern design, ranging from signature interchangeable heart lockets, to earrings, necklaces, pendants, rings and bracelets. Hand-crafted in 18k white gold with a variety of white & black diamonds, rubies and sapphires, Rosette’s look is as eclectic as it is infinitely classic. Mouawad selects only the finest diamonds and gemstones through a meticulous process to ensure compatibility, colour and clarity are uniform throughout each piece.
Rosette pieces are hand set using the micro-pave method – setting with the use of a microscope to ensure continuity through the precise placement of small stones over the entire work. The finishing techniques used by Mouawad’s expert craftsmen produce the finest finish for rose, white and yellow gold, leaving even the matte finished pieces with a brilliant lustre that reflects like a mirror.
The Rosette Collection is on sale at all Mouawad boutiques across the region with prices ranging from US$3,000 to US$50,000.
The Rosette Collection, the Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse with other jewellery collections and Objets D’Art, will be showcased at the Abu Dhabi Jewellery & Watch Show until 21st October.
