The Ministry of Foreign Trade announced that the total volume of the non oil trade exchange between the UAE and Indonesia stood at about $500 million in the first five months of 2011.
According to the study released by the ministry, the re-exportation from the UAE to Indonesia grew in the corresponding period by 256 per cent to $26 million. The study aims to increase awareness of Emirati exporters about the exportation markets worldwide that suit local manufactured products, and expand of local markets to compete in the international market and diversify sources of income.
The study, which coincides with the current visit of the UAE trade delegation to Indonesia to attend the Trade Exhibition in Jakarta, indicated that the UAE non oil exports to Indonesia stood at $59 billion in 2010 up by 104 per cent compared to 2009. Meanwhile, the imports from Indonesia were $1.2 billion, dropping by 6.8 per cent in 2010 compared to 2009. 70.2 per cent of the UAE imports from Indonesia focused on main 10 items.
The Indonesian GDP reached $834 billion in 2011. It is ranked 18th among major economies in the world.
