Al Shamsi reviewed the ongoing projects to develop and improve the traffic flow in Abu Dhabi as per well-rehearsed plans geared to the current & projected growth of traffic triggered by the urbanization expansion witnessed by Abu Dhabi city and suburban areas, and the introduction of the best global practices and expertise to be applied locally. "The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City is currently undertaking a package of measures to promote traffic safety levels on the internal road network, including maintaining, developing and improving road network, addressing soil settlements in some areas, conducting safety audit tests to verify the safety levels & efficiency of facilities, installing modern systems, and developing the systems used in traffic signals to reduce traffic accidents and enhance pedestrians & drivers safety.
The Workshop was aimed at exchanging expertise between the Municipality and its strategic partners in the Government of Abu Dhabi as well as consultants & contractors from the private sector, and cooperating with major global institutions in the field of traffic safety as it is considered a joint responsibility of relevant governmental and non-government entities as well as various segments of the community. The Workshop focused on raising traffic awareness level among all road users, especially in a diverse, multi-cultural and multiethnic community such as the UAE community.
