The opening ceremony of the 4th Korea-Arab Friendship Caravan will be held at the National Theatre - Abu Dhabi on Monday.
The 2-day event takes place in seven countries in the Middle East between 17 October to 24 October, 2011.
Taking the importance of close bilateral relations between Korea and the UAE into consideration, the Government of the Republic of Korea has chosen the UAE as the opening country for the said event.
The ceremony will be followed by various performances both on the 17th and the 18th , such as Korean traditional dance, fashion show, taekwondo demonstration, break dance and samulnori (Korean for farmers’ dance) performances as well as a photo exhibition on tourism.
Samuel Koo, Chairman of Korea’s Culture & Tourism Committee at the Presidential Council on National Branding who is also the UN Commissioner General for 2012 Yeosu EXPO, will open the Caravan event in Abu Dhabi as the Korean Government’s representative, the Embassy added.
Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the UAE Kwon Tae-kyun said "The bilateral relations between Korea and the UAE are being expanded to all areas nowadays, in addition to politics and economy, and cultural exchange has been a pivotal part of our two countries’ relationship over the years.
Tae-kyun expressed hope that a larger number of emiratis will attend this event "to experience at least some aspects of the Korean culture, which will help promote mutual understanding between the people of our two countries."
