ALHOSN University, a leading Abu Dhabi-based institution dedicated to high-quality and value-based education, recently hosted a special demonstration of the new ‘Tathqeef’ traffic safety awareness vehicle at its Female Campus and Male Campus. The event is part of university efforts to establish community partnerships supporting its own Safe Driving Awareness Campaign for its students.
‘Tathqeef’is an innovative idea launched by the Department of Traffic and Patrol – Abu Dhabi Police. It is a vehicle from the Abu Dhabi Police traffic patrol fleet that has been fitted with special demonstration equipments such as a rear monitor and a mobile camera and standard safety gear including child seats, first aid kits and a fire extinguisher. Sporting an attractive exterior design, the vehicle has been touring various public places and homes to instill a responsible traffic culture among families as well as their drivers.
ALHOSN is the first university to be visited by Tathqeef. A Public Relations team from the Directorate of Traffic & Patrol – Abu Dhabi Police conducted the demonstration for ALHOSN students, faculty and staff. ALHOSN Vice Chancellor and CEO, Prof. Abdul Rahim Sabouni, and Provost Prof. Raymond Tennant attended the event.
“Traffic safety is among our major student advocacies. A lot of lives are lost every year due to irresponsible driving, so it is important to acquire good driving habits at an early age. Our hosting of Tathqeef is an opportunity for us to foster a spirit of responsible driving among our students as well as strengthen our ties with important community members such as the General Directorate of the Abu Dhabi Police,” said Prof. Sabouni.
Named after Abu Dhabi’s historic ALHOSN Palace, ALHOSN University was founded in 2005 by the Abu Dhabi Holding Company in response to growing local demand for high-quality, value-based educational institutions. It currently offers 11 undergraduate and 7 graduate programs under the Faculties of Engineering and Applies Sciences, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. ALHOSN admits students of all nationalities and also accommodates youths with special needs. All its programs are accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
