Emirates International Date Palm Festival (EIDPF), an event that celebrates and fosters the UAE culture, tradition and heritage of the date fruit, has announced its participation at the ninth edition of Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition, which will be held in Abu Dhabi from 14 – 17 September, 2011.
Mohamed Jalal Al Reyaysa, Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee for the Emirates International Date Palm Festival and the Official Spokesperson for Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, said: “For us, participation at this significant exhibition is important because it is essentially about the rich heritage and culture of the UAE and region. Hunting and horsemanship are integral aspects of the traditional culture; so are dates and date palms. All these are a part and parcel of our historical legacy and they continue to remain so even to this day. Exhibitions such as these will play a vital role in acquainting the newer generations with the essential elements of their heritage and culture.”
Qaboos Khalid, Event Director of the festival, Turret Media, said: “The date festival has evolved with a special focus on raising awareness of the UAE’s cultural traditions. Therefore, ADIHEX provides the perfect participation platform as it explores the rich and beautiful traditions of the UAE.”
Visitors to the EIDPF stand at ADIHEX will have a unique chance to be a part of an exciting ‘Win A Mystery Prize’ raffle draw. Contestants can fill a raffle coupon at the festival booth with the winner being announced at the EIDPF in November.
Emirates International Date Palm Festival is all set to take place from 21 – 26 November, transforming Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre into a palm oasis with more than 200 exhibitors from 17 countries, four national pavilions, and six incredible featured events never held before in the region. Date manufacturers and processors will join forces to stage a remarkable display of 400 date varieties from the UAE and other countries.
The six-day family-centric festival will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates.
”We invite everyone to share in the joy of celebrating the traditions of the super fruit through exciting events dedicated to art, traditional performances, date cookery, date palm tree planting, date tree climbing and especially date tastings,” said Khalid.
