Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) released the traffic report for Abu Dhabi international Airport during the month of July 2011, which indicated a significant growth in passenger traffic by 13.3 percent with 1.2 million passengers passing through its facilities, surpassing for the second time the one million passenger milestone.
Aircraft movements also continued to steadily grow with a 3.1 percent increase for the month of July totaling 9,700 movements.
This growth is due to another strong summer season with new airlines and increased frequencies, combined with school holidays and the holy month of Ramadan.
Commenting on this, Eng. Ahmad Al Haddabi, Chief Operating Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), said: "This double digit growth in July passenger traffic reveals the increasing attractiveness of Abu Dhabi as a destination during the summer season and the healthy mix of residents at the capital that is driving further inbound and outbound traffic throughout these months. The continuous flow of passengers through the Emirate remains strong as the airport continues to offer efficient connectivity for transit passengers across all continents." The top five routes from Abu Dhabi International Airport during July were London, Doha, Bangkok, Jeddah, and Manila generating collectively 20% of the total passenger traffic.
