Abu Dhabi National Islamic Finance (ADNIF), the Islamic finance and banking arm of the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD), has donated AED 500,000 to the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments (GAIAE).
The donation will support GAIAE in some of its various projects meant at helping needy communities in different fields such as education and health.
"We are aware of the current realities and challenges. At GAIAE we aim to promote and preserve the tradition of waqf within UAE community so that benefits can reach society as whole," said Dr. Mohammed AlKaabi, GAIAE’s director general.
"With the financial support presented by ADNIF and the hard work of our team, we can contribute to the sustainable development of society." AlKaabi adds, "ADNIF’s contribution is a result of GAIAE initiatives to promote Waqf projects in the UAE which is supported by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE; His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoom, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai; Their Highnesses Members of Supreme Council, Rulers of Emirates, and General His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces." Founded in 2006, the GAIAE is a UAE’s leading institution in promoting social and religious awareness through building and maintaining mosques and Quran memorization centers, organizing Hajj and Umrah affairs, and investing waqf for the good of society.
"ADNIF pledged to act as a role model in the social and the environmental development of the UAE," said Aref Ismail Al Khouri, General Manager of ADNIF. ADNIF is engaged in many vital activities and projects that support the society, and are in line with NBAD’s Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility (CSR) visions and objectives, such as education, health, community development and sports.
