Abu Dhabi Education Council has launched the first phase of the new Electronic Recruitment System (iRecruitment) which is designed for the management of the new teachers appointments within the Council. This phase includes support operations for the recruitment of faculty and administrative staff both locally and internationally.
Salem Al Sayari, Executive Director of Support Services at ADEC, said that the Council is looking forward through the Strategic Plans to provide high quality IT services in order to increase the operational effectiveness by offering accurate codified data, saving time and effort and creating a paper-free work environment.
He pointed that the iRecruitment Program will be operating online from anywhere in the world, which constitutes an integrated recruitment solution that helps all parties to manage each stage of the appointment operation providing follow up options for new staff and teachers, especially that the Council is running recruitment processes that differ from the conventional business world operations and seeks to attract the best administrative, teaching and education specialist having the highest level of expertise on both local and global levels.
According to Firas Al Tamimi, the Project Manager, the design and preparation of the system took as long as four months noting that it’s one of the latest programs launched by the Council in the IT sector as it covers all aspects of the recruitment process, including keeping record of the staff departures and arrivals from and to the country’s airports, residence visa and medical check-up transactions. The working teams will be using iPADS to enter and review teachers’ information and complete their arrival and appointment procedures through Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems in order to achieve maximum flexibility and speed in conducting the recruitment processes.
Al Tamimi added that the project faced many challenges and the most important of those challenges was the given time frame within which the system must be ready before the arrival and appointment of the new teachers. Support teams from the School Operations Division participated in setting up the program until the successful launch of its first phase. The other phases of the program will follow accordingly during the next few months.
Key factors have been identified in a number of points arising from ADEC’s strategic plans which include: more efficient recruitment, managing and involving the candidates base, the management of the logistic support operations such as air-tickets, hotels, accommodation and deployment of the new staff to schools.
The iRecruitment System will be available through an electronic gateway on ADEC website and it is meant to provide all essential information related to job seekers applying to ADEC positions which will facilitate their recruitment and new foreign teachers relocation procedures from abroad, in addition to the provision of all details about the package offer, such as accommodation, salary range, air-tickets and visas for foreigners as they arrive to the country.
The System will support the recruitment processes within ADEC through the announcement of available job vacancies via the internet with the online application option with an automatic replying system to communicate with the applicants, who will be able to create their accounts and entering their e-mail addresses to log in. Once a candidate is shortlisted, all his documents will be available on the database and will be transferred to the HR Section as candidate personal documents, and this will make it easier and more flexible to process each file.
