The Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation continued to carry out the largest health project of its kind in the Middle East through immunization of Palestinian children in the West Bank and Gaza Strip against meningitis, pneumonia and hepatitis.
Director General of the Foundation Salem Obaid Al Dhahiri said that the ambitious health program, which came under the guidance of the Chairman of the Foundation HH Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, at a cost over nine million dollars (equivalent to AED 33 million) targets immunization of 170 000 Palestinian children.
The project, which started in September last year, will be completed by 2013 in three phases, Al-Dhahiri added.
The major health project is based on an agreement between the Foundation and the Palestinian Ministry of Health and is assisted by the U.S based Rostropovich-Vishnevskaya Foundation (RVF) that supports programs to improve the health of children worldwide.
"The unique project is the first of its kind in Palestine as well as the entire Middle East. Our children and their parents are so grateful to Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation for this generous gesture", stated Palestinian Minister of Health Dr. Fathi Abu Maghli.
He thanked the UAE, its leadership and the people for the great humanitarian help that will protect the Palestinian children against life threatening diseases.
