Abu Dhabi National Insurance Company (ADNIC), a leading insurance company in the UAE, and Yas Marina Circuit, announced today the official launch of the “ADNIC Yas Run”, the first 10km running event to be held at Yas Marina Circuit.
The ADNIC Yas Run will be held just two weeks after the 2011 Formula 1TM Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on 26 November 2011 and runners will follow the same route as F1 champions Vettel, Hamilton and Alonso around the iconic track. Participants will have the option of registering for the full 10km run or in a team relay, allowing runners of all abilities to join in. The event will also feature a 3km run for children aged between 12 and 15 and a 1km run for children aged between 8 and 11.
Those participating in the 10km and 3km events will start from the official F1 starting grid before finishing under the chequered flag. All runners will be issued with timing chips to receive their official race time as there will be category prizes for the individual events as well as for the first three people to cross the finish line.

The Run is also a great community event, which is set to become a key sporting fixture in the Abu Dhabi calendar, as well as donating a large percentage of entry fees to local and international charities.”
Richard Cregan, Chief Executive Officer of Yas Marina Circuit, added: “We are delighted to form this partnership with ADNIC, where we will create the first 10km run at Yas Marina Circuit. The ADNIC Yas Run is targeting everyone, from experienced athletes to first-time runners looking to improve their fitness and challenge themselves. We also hope to see families participating alongside the corporate teams.”
The Run is designed to appeal to spectators and supporters as well as the participants. Live footage of the runners will be shown as they set off from the start line around the course, which spectators can view from their seats in the grandstand.
Registration is now open for the ADNIC Yas Run 2011. Participants can visit www.yasmarinacircuit.ae to register or to find out more about the event, which will be held under floodlights – just like the Grand Prix.
The ADNIC Yas Run has been created by Yas Marina Circuit and Professional Sports Group, who will manage the sporting operations on the day. The creation of the race has been fully supported by ADNIC. The event will be a certified 10km run in Abu Dhabi.
