The Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HAAD), the regulatory body of the Healthcare sector at the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, announced today the launch of "Abu Dhabi Medical Distinction Award" to recognize and honor professionals in the emirate of Abu Dhabi for their outstanding achievements in the medical field.

The award aims to acknowledge professionals who have contributed to the improvement and enhancement of the healthcare system, encourage medical and scientific research, honor voluntary work and promote philanthropy.

Dr. Jamal Al Kaabi, Head, Customer Services and Corporate Communication at HAAD, said: "Abu Dhabi Medical Distinction Award is launched to recognize the great achievements of the workers in the health care sector and adopt new innovative ideas with the aim to raise the level of scientific competency and quality in the performance of all health professionals." The award categories include Surgical Performance, Clinical Performance, Medical Research, Medical Teaching, Allied Health, Health Administration ’&’ Management, Clinical Diagnostics and Laboratory and Medical Volunteering.

Dr. Mohammed Bader Al Seiari, Director of Health System Compliance and General Secretary of Abu Dhabi Medical Distinction Award, said: "the overall objective is to improve healthcare services in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. We encourage all healthcare facilities in the Emirate to participate and submit their nominations in various categories." "The percentage of nationals in the scientific committees overseeing the award represents 90 percent of the members. Moreover, it is strongly recommended that employers/organizations nominate at least 50% of the nominees to be U.A.E. nationals in order to encourage local talent to contribute significantly in the field of health care", Dr. Al Seiari added.

HAAD has dedicated web page on its website - www.haad.ae/adma - with all award information, award categories, terms and conditions, criteria for each category and filtration mechanisms. Candidate registration and submissions will be accepted through the website.
