Currently, Abu Dhabi University offers 20 undergraduate programs, and 9 postgraduate programs. Eight programs were accredited and launched in the last year: a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health and Safety, a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, a Master of Science in Special Education, a Master of Engineering Management, a Bachelor of Arts in Persian Language, a Bachelor of Architecture, a Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching, and a Doctor of Business Administration. In addition, six programs are currently under accreditation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
H.E. Ali Bin Saeed Bin Harmal noted that all programs on offer at ADU are targeted toward the needs expressed by the Abu Dhabi Government through its Economic Vision 2030 plan. The university seeks to play an integral part in the creation of a knowledge economy in UAE society, delivering well-qualified human resources in a variety of fields such as information technology, health sciences, and environmental sciences.
He added that the university’s first priority is to guarantee that it is delivering high quality educational outcomes. This is accomplished by implementing the directives of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President, and that of H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Education Council. These directives, in essence, focus on maintaining international standards while designing academic programs that provide students with the skills and know-how to be successful in the workplace.
He also mentioned the vision of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and President of Abu Dhabi University’s Board of Trustees. His vision is that the university will meet the needs and expectations of the UAE society, and that the university will act as a conduit for academic and cultural exchange between Abu Dhabi, the UAE, and the international community. Both these objectives can be achieved by attracting world-class faculty, organizing international conferences, and offering academic programs while conducting research projects in cooperation with internationally renowned institutions.
Dr. Nabil Ibrahim, the ADU Chancellor, explained that ADU currently attracts more than 4500 students specializing in majors such as management, education, arts, sciences, engineering, and IT. All ADU programs are developed based on thorough market demand analyses. He pointed out that the university has academic accreditation for all of its programs from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research - a body that evaluates academic programs using stringent internationally accepted standards.
He added: “ADU offers is a comprehensive set of academic programs and a uniquely integrated educational environment that is conducive to scientific and applied creativity. ADU is committed to attract world-class faculty members who hail from universities and research centers in America, Europe, the Middle East, Australia and other countries. The university also attracts students from many nationalities, which makes the university a center of diversity in culture and thought.”
