Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) announced that three new private schools are being prepared in former government school building to open in September 2011 to provide alternative schools for students attending villa schools that will close at the end of the 2010 - 2011 academic year. The new schools will operate from the buildings formerly known as Al Dana School (Abu Dhabi Island), Al Mutasem School (Baniyas) and Al Sarooj School (Al Ain).
The new schools will provide affordable schooling with priority placement being offered to students currently attending villa schools that will close this summer.
The owners of three villa school in Abu Dhabi (Baraem Al Aqsa Private School, Badr Al Kobr Private School and Al Ekhlass Private School) and a further 3 villa schools in Al Ain (Al Amal Private School, International Private School and Zahrat Al Madain Private School) took the decision to close their schools in accordance with the government’s plan to relocate all students attending villa school to purpose built school facilities.
Parents whose children attend any of the closing schools will have priority placement in the new schools until 31st July 2011. Parents must ensure that they complete the registration process with the new school before 31st July 2011, as from 1st August 2011 the new schools will open registration for other students who wish to join them.
ADEC is providing details of the registration teams for the new schools to closing villa school parents via letters distributed by the current schools, newspaper adverts and with the transfer certificates. Additional information sheets can be collected from ADEC’s headquarters building on Airport Road, Abu Dhabi or ADEC’s regional offices in Khalidiyah, Abu Dhabi or the Ministries area in Al Ain.
Further villa schools are expected to close in 2012 with the final villa school closures scheduled for 2013. ADEC requests all villa school owners to work in accordance with the government initiative to relocate all students from villa school to purpose built school buildings by either working within ADEC’s licensing process to build a new school or to take the decision to close their school.
