Zayed House For Islamic Culture Distributes English Translations Of The Quran At SEHA’s Health Facilities
(23 June 2011)

Zayed House for Islamic Culture (ZHIC) announced that it will distribute English translations of the Holy Quran at Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) affiliated heath facilities, to mark the holy month of Ramadan. This makes SEHA the first organization to support the ZHIC’s initiative to educate society about Islam’s message on the occasion of Ramadan.

ZHIC is an Islamic Cultural Organization that pays great attention to the essence of Islam, its spirit of forgiveness, core values and principles.

The translation of the Holy Quran is the first of its kind, undertaken by the University of Oxford, UK, specifically for the ZHIC. It is considered the latest, most accurate and accessible translation available. The translator was awarded the rank of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) at the Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday honors.

Dr. Nidal Al Tunaiji, Director General ZHIC said, “This initiative is in line with the definition of Islamic culture and moderation, and the faith’s approach of peaceful coexistence between different religions. This translation will help those interested in learning about Islam, and will serve as a comprehensive reference for those wishing to explore and comprehend the meanings and principles underpinning the faith. The initiative supports the purpose and remit of the ZHIC as a leading organization in educating people about Islamic culture, and supporting new converts.”

Al Tunaiji also expressed her gratitude to SEHA, the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, and other parties cooperating with the ZHIC initiative. “These parties are very important supporters of ZHIC as we look to communicate with all stakeholders interested in clarifying Islam’s unifying message,” she said.

Khalifa Al Ketbi, Deputy Chief of Operations Division at SEHA thanked ZHIC for this initiative that aims to educate people about Islam through the Holy Quran to preserve the spirit of tolerance, and promote cultural interaction and understanding. “SEHA will distribute copies of the Holy Quran’s English translation at all SEHA’s health facilities. Copies will also be placed in patients’ rooms,” he concluded.

The Oxford edition of Quran’s translation has been approved for distribution by the concerned authorities in the United Arab Emirates.
