ADEC Launches Parent Satisfaction Survey
(6 June 2011)

Abu Dhabi Education Council launched “Parent Satisfaction Survey” through its website, targeting parents of students in Abu Dhabi schools in order to explore their views and feedback. The Survey will measure level of satisfaction with regard to teaching & learning, ADEC-based activities & programs, school performance, student behaviors & attitudes and school efforts to promote desirable behavior.

Dr. Masood Badri, ADEC’s Director of Research and Performance Management Division said that regular surveys are important academic means to assist in obtaining feedback on education from students, parents and the community. The results of such surveys will help decision makers plan accordingly to meet the needs and expectations of stakeholders.

“The Survey also aims at implementing new initiatives, programs and plans that will enhance the teaching and learning process, as well as assessing the effectiveness of parents-school communication”, he added.

Dr. Badri pointed out that the Survey covered many topics to include: school’s greatest strength i.e. teaching, school leadership, student attitudes, required school improvements, communication with parents, school assessment, favorite subjects, IT, facilities, school environment, teacher quality and assignments.

“It also includes a section dedicated to programs and requirements of special educational needs students to include students with special needs and gifted & talented students”, Dr. Badri added.

The Survey included other school-related issues such as: the implementation of fair & consistent student’s discipline, attitudes of school staff, extra-curricular activities, and extra academic help offered to students, parents’ involvement, etc.

“The Survey focused on tuition fees imposed by private schools and whether it is appropriate relative to the quality of education and impacts of fee related complaints to the relationship with school. The parents were also asked to state if they were asked to make an advance payment to secure a place for their children”, Dr. Badri concluded.
