SEHA, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company, was awarded the Gold Award at the 2011 Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Awards (SKEA) ceremony held at the Emirates Palace Hotel, Abu Dhabi. At the same ceremony, Mafraq Hospital, a SEHA-owned hospital in Al Mafraq just outside Abu Dhabi City, won the top Diamond Award.
The Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Award (SKEA) is based upon the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Excellence model which is designed to recognize organizations that have achieved an outstanding level of sustainable excellence. SKEA has completed a decade of recognizing excellent organizations in the emirate amongst different sectors and industries. The SKEA award is considered a prestigious award not only because Its granted to organizations with outstanding and sustainable levels of excellence but also because it carries the name of His H.H Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and is under the patronage of H.H General Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the U.A.E Armed Forces. In 2011, the Award was held along the theme of “Ten Years of Sustained Excellence.”
Commenting on this outstanding achievement, H.E Saif Bader Al Qubaisi, Chairman of SEHA, expressed his thanks and appreciation for Abu Dhabi government’s leadership as well their commitment in promoting excellency and efficiency in delivering services to communities and customers across both the private and public sectors.

These awards strengthen our commitment to to our patients, customers and our communities served,” he added.

Mafraq Hospital, which is owned and operated by SEHA and managed by Bumrungrad International, earned the top award at the 2011 Sheikh Khalifa Excellence Awards (SKEA). The hospital is the first healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi to receive the Diamond Award. This is also the only time that any competing organization has been presented with this highest form of recognition on first application. Normally, an organization must first be recognized with a Gold Award before competing for Diamond status.

We will continue to look at ways of improving the Mafraq Hospital experience and won’t rest on our laurels.”
Shamsa Al Muhairy, Excellence Project Manager at SEHA said, “We started the preparation process for SKEA in 2008 with the support of H.E. Saif Bader Al Qubaisi Chairman of SEHA. Senior management supported our mission to promote a culture of excellence. It is a real achievement that SEHA Home Office won the Gold award. SEHA has been working hard at two discrete levels - to ensure that long-term strategic objectives are met, but also that day to day operational excellence is given priority.”
