Manchester City Football Club will on 2nd June put on public display the world’s most historic football trophy - the FA Cup.
The team won the cup last month at Wembley Stadium and have since shared their achievement with thousands of fans in Manchester, who participated in a street parade in honour of the Club last week.
This morning (Wednesday) it was flown into Abu Dhabi, accompanied by security guards, to be put on show at the official club store, CityStore Abu Dhabi, at Marina Mall.
Joining it is Manchester City legend and Club Ambassador Mike Summerbee who was in the team when the Club last won the FA Cup in 1969.
The FA Cup will be on display during store opening hours on Thursday (10 am - 10 pm), Friday (2 pm - 10 pm) and Saturday (10 am - 10 pm). Fans will be able to take pictures of themselves next to the trophy. In addition, Mike Summerbee will greet fans at the store on Friday at 5pm.
"Manchester City have a fantastic history with the FA Cup, and when we won it in 1969 it was one the greatest days of my life," said Summerbee.
"Winning the FA Cup this season is a big moment in the new journey City have been taking since the takeover and I am so proud to be involved.
"City fans all over the world are passionate and loyal. This means so much to them and the joy inside Wembley Stadium at the final whistle was incredible.
"The FA Cup is a trophy with so much romance and history. It’s wonderful for all football fans in Abu Dhabi and the UAE to be able to get up close and see it for themselves." Alongside the cup, City will unveil the new team away kit. The inspiration for the kit is taken from the most famous shirt in the Club’s history - the black and red shirt worn in 1969 and 1970, during which time City won the FA Cup, League Cup and European Cup Winners Cup.
The away kit is available for pre-order from CityStore Abu Dhabi , with delivery of the kit scheduled for late June.
